What do the different ways of sorting stuff mean?
- Best = the most visited, highest rated, most talked about and recent items
- Most Active = where the most active conversations are occurring
- Newest = most recent additions
- Hall of Fame = the highest rated items of all time
What is credibility?
Every user has a certain amount of credibility based on how much they have participated in the community and the quality of the contributions. A new account has 0 credibility where an active user can have lots of credibility. If a user is disruptive their credibility score can become negative in which case their account will be limited. Your credibility is used to determine how much to weigh your opinion in the community.
What is a warning?
If you feel like a piece of content is inappropriate for a public website you can warn or flag it. Examples include using profane language, posting inappropriate photos, maliciously destroying or defacing content or offensive slurs/comments. Whenever a few users have warned a piece of content that content is removed from the website.
What is tagging?
Tagging allows you to associate conversations, videos, news articles and blog posts with your favorite Players, Games, and Topics. Why tag? Tagging helps organize conversations and content – so that fans can find the conversations they are interested in and see the top topics.
What is a rating?
Users can rate any piece of content once – if you think something is good rate it thumbs up, if you think it’s bad rate it thumbs down. Ratings help the community decide what content is good and what content is bad and directly affect the posters credibility.
What are friends?
Friends are your pals you want to keep closer track of in the FanFoc.us community. The more friends you have and recruit the higher your credibility grows. There are lots of cool “friends only” features – for more information checkout our blog post about the friends system.
What appears on the front page of the website? What determines what is “top” content?
The newest, highest rated, most viewed content ends up on the front page. The same holds true for players & fans – the fans with the most credibility and the players who have been tagged with the most content & viewed the most times appear on the front page.
What is markdown?
Markdown is a simple way of adding formatting to most of the content of the website. Markdown makes it easy to add images, links, create bullets or any normal text formatting to your contributions. Any field on FanFoc.us that supports markdown will have a
logo below it with a link to help. For a complete markdown reference please see http://daringfireball.net/projects/markdown/
How do I change my password, my email address or the information that appears in my profile?
Click on the “Account Settings” button in your profile (upper left hand corner of your browser) when you are logged into your account.
Where can I post videos from? How can I post a video?
At this time we only accept videos from http://www.youtube.com and http://www.veoh.com – we will be accepting videos from other websites shortly. To share a video with a community simply find a video on the youtube website and copy it’s link/url from your browser’s address bar. Browse to the video page and click the “Share a new video” button in the upper right.
Which articles/links can I share with a community?
Any link on the internet should embed just fine with an article. Note: some content like flash animations may not display correctly in the thumbnails.
